The Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area-based non-profit announces changes to its Board’s leadership

Today, the CivicAction Leadership Foundation is pleased to announce that Layth Ashoo, Partner, Maverix Private Equity, has been appointed to the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
“As we work together to recover from COVID-19 and build a better, more inclusive region for everyone in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, we need strong, diverse leadership at every decision-making table. Layth brings that to CivicAction, and I welcome his experience and thoughtfulness to the Board,” said Tim Hockey, Chair of the CivicAction Leadership Foundation.
Ashoo has spent his career helping entrepreneurs turn good ideas into strong, innovative businesses – turning ideas into action. His years of experience will build on CivicAction’s mission to harness the power of community members to take action on the most pressing issues facing the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Born in Kuwait, Ashoo migrated to Canada
with his family in 1990, during the first Gulf War. He holds an Honours BASc.
degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from
the Richard Ivey School of Business. Prior to his career in private equity, he was
an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets and a management consultant at
McKinsey & Company. Ashoo is a Young Patrons Circle Ambassador with the
Royal Ontario Museum.
